Jockey Club “Camily” Project (31/3/2023)

Funded by the Jockey Club Charities Trust, we stepped into the second year of the Jockey Club “Camily” Project with over 600 parents and children participated in activities themed on Skills, Physical Recreation and Expeditions, such as creative Tie Dye, Floor Curling, Climbing, Abseiling and Adventure Camping tasks like building tents. The project aims to improve young people’s self-esteem and self-care abilities. Parents can understand more about their children’s characters and abilities, and enhance the communication and bonding amongst them.

Sports ZERO (31/3/2023)

Events Report, Past Events

Funded by HKEX Foundation, and allocated and monitored by the Community Chest, AYP organised the “Sports ZERO” project aiming to promote environmental sustainability. We held “ZERO Hero” Journey, Creation ZERO Workshop, and ZERO Games, in which participants first collected disposable plastic bottles through beach clean-up by kayaking, then used upcycling plastic to create equipment for Newly Emerged Sports and at last participated in environmental friendly emerging sports games and donated products to the community. We aim to promote waste-to-energy, letting young people and the public learn more about green lifestyle by integrating sustainability concepts into sports activities.

Project One to Infinity (31/3/2023)

Sponsored by 100 Women in Finance for the third consecutive year, AYP launched “Project ONE to Infinity” in December 2022 with over 50 participants from 20 schools and organisations. The eight-month Skills Section programme included a series of career-related training and workshops, company visits and job shadowing programme, for participants to learn more about the development of the four major industries (finance, media, startup, NGO/social enterprise), explore their strengths and interests, and obtain real-life work experience.

Jockey Club Row for Future Scheme (31/3/2023)

Past Events

With the generous support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the 3-year Jockey Club Row for Future Scheme had been successfully launched. In the past year, we had served more than 60 schools and NGOs, and conducted indoor rowing VR programmes for over 4,000 young people. 350 of them were invited to the HKAYP Jockey Club Expeditions Centre and experienced board rowing in Sai Kung area. Besides, the project had successfully trained 16 participants to become indoor rowing and board rowing instructors, helping them to build a career path in the sports industry.

Pilot Scheme on Youth Outdoor Adventure Training Activities (31/3/2023)

Past Events

The Pilot Scheme on Youth Outdoor Adventure Training Activities had successfully concluded, and our 20 months effort yielded fruitful results. In this programme, we conducted a total of 88 groups of training, providing valuable learning opportunities for 2,838 young people. Through these activities, participants not only improved their physical and mental health, but also enhanced their positive thinking, teamwork, and resilience. We believe that these experiences would have a profound impact on the growth of the participants. We would like to express our gratitude to all those who participated in the programme, including the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, the Youth Development Commission, participating organisations, teachers, and students. Their support and efforts have made this programme a success.

Flag Day 2023 (25/3/2023)

Past Events

AYP Flag Day (Kowloon Region) was held on 25 March 2023. We extend our heartfelt thanks to donors and volunteers for their support in the rain to raise over HK$300,000 of donations. This year, the themes of the flags were AYP 5-section activities and Green Bird. The donations would be used to support young people to complete 5-section activities and bring life-changing experience to them.

Mission S (19/3/2023)

Events Report, Past Events

Supported by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, AYP has launched the first aerospace themed three-month programme, Mission S, in January 2023. Space, Sky and Star are the 3 key themes in the programme covering a visit to the laboratory and attend space seminar at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; a visit to Lee Kum Kee, the sauces provider for the China Space Mission 7 times in a row and participation of a STEM virtual space course in the 2 Days 1 Night Aerospace education camp, etc. With a series of visits and workshops, participants learnt more about aerospace and aeronautical engineering development and were inspired to explore interest about the space. The closing ceremony was successfully held on 19 March, with Ms. Alice Mak Mei Kuen, SBS, JP, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs as the Guest of Honour, to present the certificates to the participants and host the water rocket launching session.

National Security Beyond Classroom (15/3/2023)

Supported by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, AYP has launched the first national security themed city hunt, “National Security Beyond Classroom”, in March 2024. We challenged our participants to find various checkpoints in Sham Shui Po and answer questions related to national security and the community in order to earn points. Throughout the process, participants made every effort to visit different locations and achieve the best result. AYP believes that our participants can enhance their sense of belonging and raise awareness of national security through exploration, as well as contribute to society through community interaction.

Physical Recreation Workshop – Darts (11/2/2023)

Past Events

Two Physical Recreation Workshops were organised on 4 & 11 February 2023. This year, we invited Mr. Masa Lui and Mr. Penny Tsang, coaches from Hong Kong Darts Federation, to introduce the basic rules of darts. They also demonstrated a series of dart throwing techniques for our participants. Everyone enjoyed the excitement of darts playing and improved physical and mental well-being.

Spring Reception 2023 was held at The Cityview on 2 February 2023. We were glad to have Mr. Clarence Leung Wang Ching, BBS, JP, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Dr. Yu Sheng Gao, Inspector for Department of Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Mr. Siu Chak Yee, PDSM, PMSM, Commissioner of Police, The Hon. Kenneth Leung Yuk Wai, JP, Legislative Council Member and Vice-Chairman of Youth Development Commission, and Dr. Irene Tang, MH, Sponsor of Dr. Irene Tang International Exchange Programme Fund, to attend our Spring Reception. Mr. Andy Kwok Wing Leung, JP, Chairman, Mr. Victor Pang Wing Seng, MH, Vice-Chairman, and Dr. Philip Ma Ching Yeung, BBS, Honorary Treasurer also shared the joy of Chinese New Year with 150 guests and AYP supporters. We also invited the Lion Dance Team from Yuen Long Merchants Association Secondary School, who were AYP participants as well, to celebrate the New Year with us.
