AYP held Bronze Level Programme – BronzeGain from July 2023 to January 2024. This programme included the four section activities of Bronze Award Level, allowing participants to complete the Bronze Award at once. For Service Section, participants participated in volunteer activities such as second-hand recycling, beach cleaning, and teaching children to make craft; for Skills Section, there were two activities: bakery and ceramic-making provided to participants to choose the one that they were more interested in; for Adventurous Journey Section, most of them had their first taste of hiking and overnight camping, which allowed them to challenge themselves; last but not least, for the Physical Recreation Section, they participated in the orientation activities, so that they were qualified to participate in the “BOC Life Rogaine Charity Race 2024” after completion of the orientation training. Concurrently, the Bronze Award Presentation was held for the first time after the end of Rogaine Charity Race. They could celebrate the joyfulness of completing the Bronze Award with other participants, and continue to work hard towards the Silver Award!

BOC Life Rogaine Charity Race 2024 (28/1/2024)

The annual orienteering charity event “BOC Life Rogaine Charity Race 2024” was successfully held on 28 January 2024. This year, the race and the carnival saw over 1,200 participants, with approximately 60% being young people under the age of 30. We were honoured to have Mr. Clarence Leung Wang Ching, BBS, JP, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, as the guest of honour, along with the Award Council and other guests to attend the opening ceremony. We hope to encourage all participants, especially young people, to foster a positive and confident outlook by applying the problem-solving skills and never-give-up spirit learned during the race to their daily lives. In the after-race carnival, AYP arranged over 20 booths and workshops. 11 performance groups, including Beanies, our event ambassador, and different youth groups performed their talents on stage; and various meals available for the participants to replenish their energy, such as Lam Tsuen Rice Cake.

Gold Award Presentation 2023 (12/12/2023)

The Gold Award Presentation 2023 was successfully held at Government House on 12 December 2023. We were honoured to have The Hon. John Lee Ka Chiu, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, to be our Guest of Honour and presented certificates to 35 Gold Award Recipients and 7 Ten Years Long Service Volunteers. Mr. Andy Kwok Wing Leung, JP, Chairman of Award Council, Mr. Victor Pang Wing Seng, MH, Vice-Chairman of Award Council, and Award Council Members witnessed the wonderful moments of our awardees. We showcased our commitment to environmental protection during the award-sharing section by presenting a Christmas tree made of plastic bottles collected from “GREEN@COMMUNITY”. This served as a meaningfulway to promote the message of environmental protection and bring a festive atmosphere to the event attendees. Two Gold Award Recipients shared their personal experiences, inspiring other recipients to apply the knowledges and skills gained from their Gold Award journeys, and together, continue to uphold the spirit and belief of AYP.

Gold Level Residential Project “Discover Hong Kong” (9/29-4/10/2023)

10 participants from the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – China came to Hong Kong to begin their Gold Level Residential Project “Discover Hong Kong” in October 2023. They visited different regions in Hong Kong for the city-hunt orientation, started a canoe trip at Geopark, and visited company, school and government organisation. They also interacted with Hong Kong AYP participants, so that they could know more about Hong Kong’s characteristics and culture from different perspectives, and explored more new facets of Hong Kong.

Explore Hong Kong – Gold Level Cycling Adventurous Journey Training Course (30/9/2023-3/10/2023)

The Award Office organised Gold Level Cycling Adventurous Journey Training Course with “Explore Hong Kong” as the theme. Participants can explore Hong Kong by cycling, and appreciate Hong Kong with a new angle. We also invited Mr. Victor Pang Wing Seng, MH, the Vice Chairman of Award Council to be the guest of honour during the assessment journey to cheer for the participants.

Explore Wan Chai•Youth Orienteering Competition (27/8/2023)

Organised by the District Youth Development and Civic Education Committee (Wan Chai District), Wan Chai TEEN Horizons and Home Affairs Department (Wan Chai District), AYP supported to hold the “Explore Wan Chai•Youth Orienteering Competition”, a Partner Event of Youthfest@HK, on 27 August 2023. We were honoured to have Mr. Clarence Leung Wang Ching, BBS, JP, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs; Ms. Fanny Cheung Ngan Ling, JP, District Officer of Wan Chai District, and other guests to officiate the kick-off and prize presentation ceremony. 170 participants gave their all and showcased the spirit of teamwork within the 2-hour competition, learnt about the development of Wan Chai, built up a sense of community throughout 15 checkpoints in Wai Chai District, cultivated team spirit and patriotism.

Project ONE to Infinity 2023-2024 (16/12/2023-2/8/2024)

Sponsored by 100 Women in Finance for the fourth consecutive year, AYP launched “Project ONE to Infinity” in December 2023, a project lasting for eight months which participants can fulfil requirement of Skills Section. This year, we are honoured to have 7 female Award Council Members to be the career mentors, providing information from 7 professional industries, which include Finance, Manufacturing, Law, Public Utility, Multinational Corporation, Sports, NGO or Social Enterprise, to the participants. The programme recruited over 50 participants from 30 schools or organisations. Through a series of career-related training and workshops, we aim to help participants to know more about their strengths and interests, gain real working experience by visiting different companies, and joining the job shadowing experience.

Mission S 2.0 (6/5-23/7/2023)

Supported by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, AYP held Mission S 2.0 from May to July 2023. It contained 3 main themes: Space, Sky and Star which aimed to inspire the youth interest of aerospace technology. The activities were related to space exploration, aerospace technology and engineering development which were fun and interactive. The activities included a visit to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for attending a space seminar, a tour to the restricted area of the Hong Kong International Airport and Lee Kum Kee, which had been selected as the sauces provider for the China Space Mission seven times in a row. Last but not least, there was a 2-day-1-night Aerospace Education Camp at the end of the programme. Participants who had completed all activities were awarded with an aerospace badge and certificate at the closing ceremony.

Fly My Way Exchange Programme 2023 (27/6-5/7/2023)

Co-organised by AYP, the Civil Aviation University of China and the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy, and sponsored by Grace Yu Ho Wun Youth Development Fund, the “Fly My Way Exchange Programme 2023” was successfully held from 27 June to 5 July 2023. AYP was honoured to have Miss Alice Mak Mei Kuen, SBS, JP, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs to be our Guest of Honour in the send-off ceremony. The objective of the event is for participants to apply their acquired knowledge and skills to demonstrate their talents in the aviation industry, thereby promoting the development of aviation in both Tianjin and Hong Kong. In the 9-day trip, 25 participants from Hong Kong and China visited Aviation Services Research Centre@PolyU, Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited, Civil Aviation Department Headquarters, and the apron and the Backup Air Traffic Control Complex@HK International Airport. They also experienced a flight simulator at the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy. Then they travelled to China and visited Civil Aviation University of China in Tianjin and Beijing Daxing International Airport, gained a comprehensive understanding of the operations of different positions at the airport.
