Background:

The BOC Life Wild in the City Orienteering Challenge 2024 is a new score city orienteering competition. It is suitable for beginners and people of all levels to participate. Orienteering tests participants’ planning skills, sense of direction, teamwork, judgment and speed. This challenge aligns closely with AYP, as both initiatives inspire youth to embrace challenges, unlock their potential, and grow through perseverance. Our aim is to equip young people with essential communication skills, foster team spirit, and strengthen their connection to and engagement with their community.

Participants will become part of a treasure hunt team, walking or taking a public transport trip to discover the treasures of the city, including popular check-in spots, historical monuments, rural scenery and cultural attractions on Hong Kong Island, hoping to appreciate Hong Kong’s unique cultural heritage and diversity.

How To Play:

The competition is conducted in the form of score city orienteering competition. It is a long-distance orienteering sport requiring participants to form teams of 2 to 4 members. Within the designated time, team members must use the map provided by the Organiser to determine the direction in the competition area, find the path and visit the checkpoints on foot or by public transportation to obtain the highest score. Upon reaching each checkpoint, participating teams must use an electronic control card to obtain specific points. The team with the highest total score in each class is the winner, and in case of a tie, the team that completes the course in the shortest time is declared the winner.
