Mission S (19/3/2023)

Supported by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, AYP has launched the first aerospace themed three-month programme, Mission S, in January 2023. Space, Sky and Star are the 3 key themes in the programme covering a visit to the laboratory and attend space seminar at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; a visit to Lee Kum Kee, the sauces provider for the China Space Mission 7 times in a row and participation of a STEM virtual space course in the 2 Days 1 Night Aerospace education camp, etc. With a series of visits and workshops, participants learnt more about aerospace and aeronautical engineering development and were inspired to explore interest about the space. The closing ceremony was successfully held on 19 March, with Ms. Alice Mak Mei Kuen, SBS, JP, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs as the Guest of Honour, to present the certificates to the participants and host the water rocket launching session.

National Security Beyond Classroom (15/3/2023)

Supported by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, AYP has launched the first national security themed city hunt, “National Security Beyond Classroom”, in March 2024. We challenged our participants to find various checkpoints in Sham Shui Po and answer questions related to national security and the community in order to earn points. Throughout the process, participants made every effort to visit different locations and achieve the best result. AYP believes that our participants can enhance their sense of belonging and raise awareness of national security through exploration, as well as contribute to society through community interaction.

Physical Recreation Workshop – Darts (11/2/2023)

Two Physical Recreation Workshops were organised on 4 & 11 February 2023. This year, we invited Mr. Masa Lui and Mr. Penny Tsang, coaches from Hong Kong Darts Federation, to introduce the basic rules of darts. They also demonstrated a series of dart throwing techniques for our participants. Everyone enjoyed the excitement of darts playing and improved physical and mental well-being.

Spring Reception 2023 was held at The Cityview on 2 February 2023. We were glad to have Mr. Clarence Leung Wang Ching, BBS, JP, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Dr. Yu Sheng Gao, Inspector for Department of Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Mr. Siu Chak Yee, PDSM, PMSM, Commissioner of Police, The Hon. Kenneth Leung Yuk Wai, JP, Legislative Council Member and Vice-Chairman of Youth Development Commission, and Dr. Irene Tang, MH, Sponsor of Dr. Irene Tang International Exchange Programme Fund, to attend our Spring Reception. Mr. Andy Kwok Wing Leung, JP, Chairman, Mr. Victor Pang Wing Seng, MH, Vice-Chairman, and Dr. Philip Ma Ching Yeung, BBS, Honorary Treasurer also shared the joy of Chinese New Year with 150 guests and AYP supporters. We also invited the Lion Dance Team from Yuen Long Merchants Association Secondary School, who were AYP participants as well, to celebrate the New Year with us.

Postcards from Planet Possible: The Workshop (25/9/2022-23/12/2022)

Sponsored by Swire Trust Tomorrow, under the “Oceans Tomorrow” project, co-organised by AYP and National Geographic Creative Works, “Postcards from Planet Possible: The Workshop” was successfully held. The aim was to let all participants have a better understanding of the Hong Kong marine ecosystem, and learn to cherish marine life and spread the messages of protecting our ocean. From September to December 2022, participants experienced an array of ocean purification and conservation activities, including field trips to restore the oyster reefs in Pak Lai, understanding the mangroves and recording the sound from the nature, creating rap music about marine conservation in a professional studio, drawing their insights towards ocean tomorrow in Apple Store with iPad, and attending the Towards A Sea Change: Mission Possible – a theatrical musical celebration performance.

Five Sections Panels Members and Assessors Gathering (16/12/2021)

Over the past 60 years, we are glad to have great support from our Panel Members, Assessors and Instructors. To extend our heartfelt gratitude to our important volunteers, the Five Sections Panels Members and Assessors Gathering was organised on 16 December 2021. Long-serving volunteers (20-year) also attended to receive the Certificate of Appreciation. A cake-cutting ceremony was also arranged for celebrating AYP’s 60th Anniversary.

Gold Award Presentation 2022 (10/12/2022)

The Gold Award Presentation 2022 was successfully held at Government House on 10 December 2022. We were honoured to have The Hon. John Lee Ka Chiu, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, to be our Guest of Honour and presented certificates to 40 Gold Award Recipients and 10 awardees of Certificate of Appreciation (10 years of service). We appreciated Mr. Andy Kwok Wing Leung, JP, Chairman of Award Council, Mr. Victor Pang Wing Seng, MH, Vice-Chairman of Award Council, Award Council Members and guests for witnessing the memorable moments of our awardees. A sharing session was also held at the ceremony as a new element. We sincerely hope all awardees would utilise their strengths to inspire more young people, promoting AYP’s spirit and belief to the next generations.

BOC Life Rogaine Charity Race 2022 (13/11/2022)

AYP BOC Life Rogaine Charity Race 2022, our annual signature fundraising event, was successfully held at AYP Jockey Club Duke of Edinburgh Training Camp on 13 November 2022. We aimed to encourage young people to rediscover the beauty of nature and enhance their interest in outdoor activities by exploring in the woods. This year, the event was an accredited event celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, with a record high participation of young people. Mr. Clarence Leung Wang Ching, BBS, JP, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Mr. Andy Kwok Wing Leung, JP, Chairman of Award Council, Mr. Victor Pang Wing Seng, MH, Vice-Chairman of Award Council, Mr. Wilson Tang Chee Ping, Chief Executive of BOC Group Life Assurance Company Limited, with other guests and Award Council Members attended the kick-off ceremony to support our race participants. A traditional flower plaque was set up at our event centre. Participants took part in the after-race carnival and we all spent a cheerful and fruitful weekend together.

Adventure Gold – Gold Level Canoe Adventurous Journey Training Course (16/7/2022-4/10/2022)

Sponsored by Tai Sang Land Development Limited, the Award Office launched the Gold Level Canoe Adventurous Journey Training Course in July 2022. Through participating in the Gold-level Adventurous Journey session, participants were able to explore the unique and beautiful natural landscape of Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark. We were honoured to have Dr. Lobo Louie Hung Tak, MH, Senior Lecturer of Department of Health and Physical Education of The Education University of Hong Kong, to support our participants in the assessment. He also set off with the participants and paddled with them for a distance.

The 100th Silver Award Presentation (19/9/2022)

The 100th Silver Award Presentation was successfully held on 19 September 2022 at Cotton Spinners Association Secondary School. We were honoured to have our Guest of Honour, The Hon. Mr. Chan Kwok Ki, GBS, IDSM, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration, to officiate the presentation. Mr. Andy Kwok Wing Leung, JP, Chairman of Award Council, Mr. Victor Pang Wing Seng, MH, Vice-Chairman of Award Council, and other guests attended to share the wonderful moments of our awardees. This year, there were 158 Silver awardees and 37 awardees of Certificate of Appreciation (3 & 7 years of service). To maintain social distance, a series of precautionary measures was implemented while the Award Presentation was completed in the form of groups.
