Five Section Panels Gathering organized by Award Programmes and Assessment Sub-Committee was successfully held on 13th October 2017 at Crystal Ballroom, The Cityview. 2 Korea Exchange Projects were successfully held in summer vacation 2017, which included the Gold Level Expeditions assessment journey and SmarTone AYP Hong Kong – Korea Exchange Project 2017. After the participants from the 2 activities came back HK, a report back sharing session was held at Kowloon Award Centre on 12th September 2017. Participants shared experience and things they learnt in Korea. Activity report>>
The CRS Refreshment Training, Visit to Government Flying Service (GFS) was successfully held on 8th September 2017. There were 24 Instructors and Assessors from different Operating Authorities attended the training. They understood more about the daily operations of GFS and the search and rescue service provided. HK Macau Canoeing Challenge Trip 2017, which was co-organized by The Hong Kong Award for Young People and Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps, was completed successfully on 21 Aug 2017. 26 young people accomplished the trip by spending 4-day-3-ngiht. The Send-off Ceremony was held at the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association Jockey Club Tung Chung Activity Centre. SmarTone A 7-day and 6-night culture exchange project to Korea was successfully held between 15 August and 21 August 2017. 15 Hong Kong Gold Award participants traveled to different provinces in Korea with 11 Korean Gold Award participants. They visited Seoul, Cheonan and Yeongdeok to have different cultural exchange activities. During the trip, Hong Kong participants learnt more about Korean history and culture, and built up friendship with Korean participants. Activity report>>
After training for three months, our participants are ready to undertake their Gold Level Expeditions assessment journey in South Korea in coming August. A launching ceremony was held on 27th July 2017 at the Award Office. Activity report>>
Mr. LAU Ming-wai, Chairman of Commission on Youth came to Award Office to take part in Youth Development Policy Consultation on 24th July 2017 (Monday). Mr. Lau, Award holders, volunteer and staff shared the views on youth issues, such as citizen participation, all-round development, and sustainable development. Expeditions Annual Seminar for Cycling Expeditions Development organized by Expeditions Section Panel was successfully held on 18th May 2017 Thursday at The Hong Kong Girl Guides Association Headquarters. It was our honour to invite Mr. Chan Chung Yu, Senior Cycling Expeditions Instructor, to be our guest speaker to share his experience on organizing a Cycling Expeditions course. The 95th Silver Award Presentation, officiated by The Hon Matthew CHEUNG Kin-chung, GBS, JP, the Chief Secretary for Administration, was successfully held on 11 May 2017 at MacPherson Stadium, Mong Kok. This time we have 316 Silver Awardees and 68 recipients of Certificate of Appreciation (7 years’ & 3 years’ service). The Presentation ended in ardent applause of over 500 recipients and guests.
