The Gold Award Presentation 2024 was successfully held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 9 December. We were honoured to have The Honourable John Lee Ka Chiu, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, to be our Guest of Honour. The event was attended by nearly 300 guests, including Mr. Siu Chak Yee, PDSM, PMSM, Commissioner of Police and Honorary Adviser, Mr. Clarence Leung Wang Ching, BBS, JP, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Mr. Andy Kwok Wing Leung, JP, Chairman of Award Council, Mr. Victor Pang Wing Seng, MH, Vice-Chairman of Award Council, Award Council Members, and other guests for witnessing the wonderful moments of our awardees. This year, AYP has achieved a decade-high number of Gold Award recipients, with 75 young people. Two Gold Award recipients shared their stories of achieving the Gold Award during their secondary school years. They encouraged other recipients to set goals and take steps towards finding their own way of life and living the life they desire. The first large-scale city orienteering competition, the “BOC Life Wild in the City Orienteering Challenge 2024” (Wild in the City), organised by The Hong Kong Award for Young People (AYP) and title sponsored by the BOC Group Life Assurance Company Limited, was successfully held on 24 November, 2024. The event had over 1,000 people involved, including 800 competitors, volunteers, and supporters such as family and friends. We invited Mr. Clarence Leung Wang Ching, BBS, JP, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, and Mr. Eric Chan Sui Wai, JP, Commissioner for Youth to be the Guest of Honour of the Kick-off ceremony, accompanied by Mr. Andy Kwok Wing Leung, JP, Chairman of Award Council, The Hon Jimmy Ng Wing Ka, BBS, JP, Legislative Council member, Mr. Victor Pang Wing Seng, MH, Vice-Chairman of Award Council, Ms. Vivienne Chiu, Chief Brand and Communications Officer of BOC Life, members of the Awards Council and other guests. Together, they officiated the Kick-off ceremony to cheer on the participants. Wild in the City is a score city orienteering competition, covering popular checkpoints, historical landmarks, scenic spots, and cultural sites across four districts on Hong Kong Island (Wan Chai, Central and Western, Eastern, and Southern)….
Funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and organised by AYP, Row for Future Challenge Day was held successfully on 13 September, 2024. We were delighted to invite Ms. LAM I Ching, Assistant District Officer (Sai Kung), Mr. Chan To Pui, Principal of the Hong Kong Sea School to our HKAYP Jockey Club Expeditions Centre to cheer for nearly 150 students from the Hong Kong Sea School. Challenges include kayak orienteering, SUP catapult and board rowing relay. All participants played hard, worked up a sweat and learned the importance of teamwork. They also received finish medals and gifts after the race. What a fruitful sunny day!
Funded by the Dr. Irene Tang AYP International Exchange Fund, organised by AYP, “Dr. Irene Tang AYP Yunnan Residential Project Programme 2024” was held successfully on 17 August! Through a series of exploration and reflection, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the history and culture of Yunnan. During the 6-Day-5-Night Residential Project Programme, participants visited two Ethnic Minority living place, the Bai and the Naxi, to experience their culture; also, they visited the Eastern and Western Pagodas, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and Yunnan Baiyao Group Co., Ltd. etc., to have a deeper understanding of the local tradition and business. Multiple unforgettable experiences have allowed participants to continually improve, becoming more mature and proactive.

It was great to see participants giving their all in kayaking, SUP and board rowing competition. They also showcased the spirit of teamwork through relay races.
The 102nd Silver Award Presentation was successfully held on 29 April. We were honoured to have the Guest of Honour, The Hon. Mr. Chan Kwok Ki, GBS, IDSM, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration, to officiate our presentation. Mr. Andy Kwok Wing Leung, JP, Chairman of Award Council, Mr. Victor Pang Wing Seng, MH, Vice-Chairman of Award Council, Award Council Members and guests also came to witness the meaningful moments of our awardees. Ms. Aimee Chan Sze Long, our new Award Council member and past Silver Award Recipient, led 3 of our Silver Award Recipients to share their experience from Silver Award Journey. Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Graduation Ceremony and Community Day of the Jockey Club Diversity Mentoring Youth Project and the Jockey Club “Camily” Project was successfully held on 28 April 2024 (Sunday). We were honoured to have The Hon Kenneth Leung Yuk Wai, JP, Member of the Legislative Council Cum Vice-Chairman of the Youth Development Commission, Mr. Kwok Wing Leung, JP, Chairman of Award Council, Mr. Pang Wing Seng, MH, Vice Chairman of Award Council, Mr. Bruce Au, Deputy Executive Manager, Charities, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Ms. Fung Man Yu, May, District Social Welfare Officer (Tai Po/North District), Mr. Alex Ho Cheung Ming, Liaison Officer of Tai Po District Office, and other guests to attend the graduation ceremony and witnessing the fruitful results of those two projects. In addition to the graduation ceremony, the event included a community day to recognise and encourage programme participants, and increase public engagement. We have invited different organisations and groups to set up various creative workshops and game booths, such as coffee tasting, plant printing, and adventurous challenges. It has been a joyous gathering, bringing the community together and seeing everyone actively and happily participating.
With the support from Dr. Irene Tang AYP International Exchange Programme Fund, Kwok Hing Kwan Chan Lai Wah Charitable Foundation Limited, Eikowada, Tunbow Charity Foundation Limited and INNOTIER, the Gold Level Croatia Adventurous Journey Training Course was held successfully on 4 April, 2024. It has been four years since we held an oversea Adventurous Journey Training Course. On 25 March, 22 Gold Level participants departed for Croatia. Firstly, they visited the Plitvice Lakes National Park and Zadar, acclimating to the weather of Croatia’s countryside and preparing for the assessment. Then, they embarked on a four-day, three-night assessment from the island of Cres. Despite facing challenges such as strong winds and rugged gravel roads, they overcame these obstacles and completed the journey successfully. Through this journey, participants gained insights into how this Belt and Road Initiative country attracts Chinese tourists and investments in the tourism industry. They also explored the economic cooperation between China and Croatia, deepening their understanding of the local society and culture.
The Uniformed Groups Chill Fun Day was successfully held on 24 March 2024 (Sunday). We were honoured to have Mr. Eric Chan Sui Wai, JP, Commissioner for Youth, Mr. Andy Kwok Wing Leung, JP, Chairman of Award Council, Mr. Victor Pang Wing Seng, MH, Vice-Chairman of Award Council, Award Council members and guests to attend the closing ceremony and spend a relaxing afternoon with our young people. Students’ mental health issues have been conspicuous in these 2 years. To share a good work vision with our partners, we organised this event for young people from 13 uniformed groups. With a series of adventure challenges and STEAM activities, we aimed to enhance their connection with new friends and relax under the natural surroundings. We truly hope to make the most of the refreshing atmosphere at the camp and serve it as a breathing space for young people to pause and refresh from their busy and high-pressure daily lives. We are glad to have Mr. Eric CHAN Siu Wai, JP, Commissioner for Youth, Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, Mr. SIU Chak Yee, PDSM, PMSM, Commissioner of Police, and The Hon. Kenneth LEUNG Yuk Wai, JP, Legislative Council Member and Vice-Chairman of Youth Development Commission, to attend our Spring Reception. Mr. Andy KWOK Wing Leung, JP, Chairman of Award Council, Mr. Victor PANG Wing Seng, MH, Vice-Chairman of Award Council and Dr. Philip MA Ching Yeung, Honorary Treasurer of Award Council also shared the joy of Chinese New Year with over 160 guests and AYP supporters. Special thanks to Mr. Spedding Herbert Kinghin from Lok Chi Association for providing the artwork for the beautiful painting on the thank you card and the decorations of the Hall, and also, we are glad to have Lion Dance Team from Buddhist Ho Nam Kam College for celebrating the New Year with us. AYP can’t wait to work with all of you, providing more opportunities and activities to youths.
